Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction
All proceeds go to Nick Voulgares from a benefit dinner on July 31st at the Beach City Fire Department, 102 West Main Street, Beach City. Serving starts at 12 noon and will continue until the food is gone. (Take out is welcome, call ahead at (330) 756-2664). Cost is $8 per person.
Auction items include Mary Kay, Brown Bag, Creative Memories, Regis hair salon, Corn-hole boards, Fleece Throws, Gift Certificates and much more! There will also be a 50/50 drawing.
Nick Voulgares (Jack Lash Sr.'s grandson), is a 41 year old man that was in a head-on collision on his motorcycle. He was enjoying a day at Dundee falls with his family. Nick has two sons Mason who is 16 and attends Carrolton high school, and Nick Jr. who is in the service. He collided head on with a car and is in Ohio State University hospital where he spent 17 days in the Surgical Intensive care unit, where he had 4 surgeries to repair his leg, and many internal injuries. He is now in rehabilitation and has a long road to recovery. He was recently laid off and has lost his insurance and unemployment. We are holding a benefit dinner and silent auction to help with medical bills, and expenses. He appreciates all of the help he has been receiving and continues to receive.

Community Breakfast
The next monthly community breakfast will be held at Valley View Community Church's Family Life Center in Sugarcreek on August 6th. from 7 am. - 11 am. The all-you-can- eat breakfast consists of pancakes, sausage, eggs (cooked to order), french toast, sausage gravy & biscuits, hash browns, oj, coffee, chocolate milk, hot chocolate and the occasional special dish. Come in, sit down and let us serve you a quality breakfast. Donations are welcomed. All are invited to come for good food, fellowship and relaxation. Chicken BBQ
The Volunteer Firemen of Kidron will sponsor their 54th annual Chicken BBQ on Tuesday, August 9. Carry outs will begin at 3:30 pm, serving lines at 5 pm. The evening’s free entertainment will include Northwest Territory and others. Plus there will be petal tractor pulls and pony rides.
For the finest in BBQ chicken prepared by our own firemen, plan now to attend this event, which is one of the largest in the state with plenty of free parking on the Kidron Auction grounds.
Kidron is locate 12 miles east of Wooster on Kidron Rd. between US 30 and US 250.
Fairless Food Cupboard
The Fairless Food Cupboard will distribute free groceries to qualified residents of the Fairless School District on Thursday, July 28 from 10:00 am until noon, in the basement of St. Therese Catholic Church, 500 S. Wabash in Brewster. You must have identification, meet the financial guidelines, and proof of Fairless School District residency is required.
Singles Together of Tuscarawas Co.
The Singles’ of Tuscarawas County monthly "Alumni, Luau" dance will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 8 to 11 pm at JIMS Place, 228 West High Ave. in New Philadelphia. Cost is $6.00 per person. Contact Julie at 330-364-3469 for more information.

Corn Fest
Strasburg's 30th Annual Corn Festival will be held Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 at Strasburg-Franklin Park. The family event, which is known throughout the county for it's delicious, homemade food and superb entertainment, draws festival-goers from far and near.
One of the highlights of the evening's events is the Corn Fest Car Show, which will take place from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Contestants are required to pay a $8.00 entry fee and the first 100 cars will receive commemorative dash plaques.
Friday night's events will culminate with music by "Electric Mud" at the beer garden stage from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Saturday will be packed with excitement for young and old alike! An exhilarating event which attracts people from throughout the state is the Garden Tractor and ATV Pull. Weigh-in will begin at 11:00 am with the pull starting promptly at noon. For more information, contact the Strasburg Pullers Association at 330-343-3504.
No other festival in the Tuscarawas Valley offers the type of entertainment or home-made food that you'll find at the Strasburg Corn Festival. Proceeds from the festival are used for the preservation and improvement of Franklin Park. There are no admission or parking fees, but we ask that you leave your pets at home.
