HERSHBERGER She was born in Holmes County on September 2, 1933 to the late Eli B. and Lizzie Ann (Hostetler) Weaver and married Dan A. Hershberger on November 29, 1951. He survives. She was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church near Orrville. She was a self-employed house cleaner and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Richard (Miriam) Hershberger of Dundee, Nancy Hershberger of the home and Crystal (Steve) Miller of Fredericksburg; ten grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Yoder of Sarasota, FL; and a brother, Ben (Ada Mae) Weaver of Kidron. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alta Schlabach; and a brother, Edward Weaver. Funeral services were held at the East Union Mennonite Church with Pastor Leonard Wenger officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Friends called at the East Union Mennonite Church and prior to services at the church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton handled the arrangements. SHONTZ Born May 23, 1918, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Marie was the daughter of the late John and Adeline Baus Kessler. She married William Painter Bill Shontz in 1940, and later, the couple owned and operated Bills Dariette in Strasburg. Marie was a former member of Strasburg United Methodist Church and currently belonged to Jonesboro United Methodist Church in North Carolina. Survivors include two sons, William Curtis Shontz and wife Jennifer Wilson, of Holyoke, Mass., and John Franklin Shontz, DVM and wife Katherine Settle Shontz, DVM, of Sanford; two daughters, Marilyn Louise Shontz and partner Kathy Frank, of NC, and Rita Mae Beasley of VA; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Kessler of WA. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1982. A committal service for Maries cremated remains was held in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, with Rev. Lynda K. Masters officiating. Following the service, friends and relatives were invited to Franklin Park, Shelter 4, where the family gathered for refreshments, to visit and share memories. MULLETT She loved musicals, esp. the music from Cats, West Side Story, and Phantom of the Opera. Her greatest love of her life was her grandchildren. She was her happiest during the years she spent babysitting Kyle, Cory, and Kelsey. They would go to movies, picnics, make movies, plays, sing and she taught them about the history of Bolivar. There was nothing that gave her greater joy than that. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Bolivar. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband Donald E. Mullett in 2000 and a sister Sharon Kline in 1964. Surviving are her children; Michael Mullett of Bolivar, Susan Houk of Sandusky, and Diane (Chad) Green of Massillon; grandchildren; Kyle (Kelly) Green of Canton, Cory Green and Kelsey Green of Massillon; 2 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandsons; and a sister Jacque (Tom) Roberts of Georgia. Her funeral service was in the Lebold Funeral Home, 248 Park Ave. SW, Bolivar, where there were calling hours. Officiating was Dr. Donald N. Nichols and she will be buried next to her husband Don in Ft. Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar. The family request donations to be made In Loving Memory of Marcine G. LUX Born December 1, 1987, in Aldea Chichaj, Canilla, Quiche, Guatemala, he was a son of Martin Quinilla and Isabela Pu Lux of Canilla. Oswaldo came to the United States three years ago, and was employed by Case Farms in Winesburg. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dover, and was known for his sunny disposition. In addition to being a hard-worker, Oswaldo enjoyed playing soccer and billiards. He was a loving father and companion, and a good son, brother and friend. In addition to his parents, survivors include his companion, Lindsay Peters of New Philadelphia; three children, Jimena A. Escobar, and Giovanni and Oswaldo A. Quinilla; a sister Maria Quinilla Pu of New Philadelphia; three brothers, Juan and Santiago Quinilla Pu, both of New Philadelphia, and Enrique Quinilla Pu of Guatemala; several nieces and nephews. Oswaldo was preceded in death by a brother, Francisco Quinilla Pu, and by an infant brother, Pelico Quinilla Pu. A funeral Mass was held in St. Joseph Church, Dover, with Fr. Matthew N. Hoover officiating. Burial was in Guatemala. Family and friends were invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. JOHNSTONE He was born in Canton on May 16, 1947 to Robert Mike and Freda (Westbrook) Johnstone and married Susan Zeigler on July 18, 1970. She survives. He retired from Union Camp in Dover and taught computer classes and worked in the print shop at Allegheny Wesleyan College in Salem for a number of years. He was currently working at Glass Specialty in Kidron. He served six years in the Army Reserves and was a member of the Beach City Bible Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, of Mineral City; children, BethAnn (Tom) Bennett of Montana, Esther Johnstone and Robert (Janice) Johnstone, both of Winesburg, Sherwood (Sheila) Johnstone of Dundee and Karen (Rocky) Newman of Alliance; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Vicki (Paul) Patterson, Bernie (Rodger) Harmon and Betty (Vic) Kennison; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services were held at the Beach City Bible Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Cravens officiating. Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery in Winesburg. BAKER Dick retired in 1989 as a bricklayer for Local #6 in Canton where he served his trade for over fifty years. Born May 10, 1927 in Dover, he was the son of the late Allen D. and Vina L. (Myers) Baker. Dick was a longtime member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church in Strasburg where he formerly served as a trustee. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also a member of the Pine Hill Hunting Club in Dover. He dedicated his life to helping others. He will be remembered as a loving grandfather. He and his wife, Mary enjoyed regular fishing trips to Pymatuning Lake and also enjoyed traveling with senior citizen groups especially trips to Branson, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Mary (Reidenbach) Baker who died October 19, 2003. He will be sadly missed by his three children Carolyn (Terry) Jones of Beach City, Linda (Phil) Dreher and Richard (Lavan) Baker all of Dover; five grandchildren, Stacy Morris of Hilliard, Matthew (Ashley) Baker of Dublin, Wesley Baker of Dover, Jeremy Dreher and his fiancé Leslie LaBarge of Dover and Joshua Dreher of Dover. He is also survived by his great granddaughter, Trinity Dreher; a brother, Donald (Donna) Baker of Columbus, a sister, Jean (Delmar) Straub of Dover and a brother-in-law, Fred Fritz (Mary Jane) Aul of Strasburg. In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Aul. A celebration of Dicks life was held in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynda K. Masters officiating. He was laid to rest beside his wife, Mary in the Dover Burial Park following military honors by the Dover VFW. Friends were received in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover.
