Fairless Seniors Honored
Sixty-two seniors were present at the September 1 meeting of the Fairless Senior Citizens held at Fairless High School. This was the first meeting of the new school year for the seniors. Former president for the past three years, Margery Reed said, “teachers, administrative personnel, and the students go out of their way to make us welcome. When it rains, they come with umbrellas to escort us in the building! And the Home Ec. class has been doing the meals the last year or so — giving these students a lesson in cooking, serving, etc. — and what a job they do!!”

Jack Evans stepped up to the plate for his turn as president of the group this year. After the business meeting, the first thing Jack did was recognize Margery Reed for her years of service and dedication to the group which has grown under her diligence.

Margery reminisced, “I think the greatest job I had was meeting friends from all the districts, being greeted so well by the administrative personnel, and how nice the students accept us. Also, the wonderful program the students have for us - surprising us, as we usually do not know what we will be seeing or hearing. I think the citizens of Fairless should be proud to know how we are welcomed each month by the school. You do not see this in other districts for monthly meetings.”

The Home Ec. class serves the group lunch with included cake and ice cream to celebrate Isabelle Love’s 90th birthday! Isabella said she’s been a member of the Fairless Senior Citizens’ group for “many, many years!”

Members enjoy being able to go to these meetings, seeing students and getting a view of all the activities, etc., in the school system.

The next meeting for the Fairless Seniors will be October 6, 12 noon at the high school.

Happy 90th Birthday Isabelle!
