Italian American Scholarship
The Italian Festival Foundation Inc. of Stark County has announced that it will award a total of $8,000 in college scholarships for the 2010 academic year. This is the 24th consecutive year that the Foundation will have awarded scholarships.
To qualify for a scholarship award, the applicant must be a person of Italian American heritage who will be a 2010 May/June graduate from a Stark County High School. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, scholastic ability, extra-curricular involvement and character. Scholarship winners will be announced during the Mayors Breakfast of the Italian American Festival activities at the Stark County Fairgrounds.
To obtain an application, qualified applicants must submit a request in writing to: Italian American Festival Foundation, INC., P.O. Box 9345, Canton, OH 44711-9345, Attn: Louie Mattachione, Chairman - Scholarship Committee.
All funds for the scholarships are garnered from the Annual Stark County Italian American Festival. The date of this years Festa is set for July 9, 10, 11 at the Stark County Fairgrounds in Canton. The Stark County Italian American Festival Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization composed of Stark County Italian American Clubs and Lodges whose purpose is to celebrate and preserve the rich heritage and culture of Italian Americans. To date the Festival Foundation has awarded a total of $178,000 in scholarships to Stark County High School graduates.
